While owned by Lord Eshteross, Turmoil most often took the form of a silver cane made of solid metal with a heavy ball at the end.[1][2] It was also able to transform into a beautiful curved silver scythe with a long thin curved blade[3] along which light blue energy flickered[4] (with the stats of a greatsword).[5] The scythe not only did 2d6 slashing damage, but also caused 1d8 additional thunder damage on each hit.[6] The command word to change its appearance was "Done".[7]

In combat, when wielded as a cane it was mechanically treated as a magical club, doing bludgeoning damage.[8] It appeared, however, to have the versatile property.[9] Eshteross was able to perform a one-handed sweep with it that knocked an opponent prone on a successful hit; the DC was at least 13.[10]

Twisting the ball on the cane casts Zone of Truth with a DC of at least 16.[11] When Chetney swung it in scythe form in battle, he cast the spell Shatter with it.[12]

History

When Bells Hells met Lord Eshteross in his fortified manor home in Jrusar, he was carrying Turmoil in its usual cane form, and he wielded it against them in a battle testing their abilities.[13][14] Thereafter, it was always at his side whenever they met with him, generally in its cane form which he utilized as a walking aid.

Upon Eshteross's death, Chetney found the blood-covered cane lying on the upstairs hallway floor.[15] He also found Lord Eshteross's last will and testament leaving to Bells Hells his trusted weapon "Turmoil", the first time that they had heard that name.[16]
