Proleff is a human herbalist and proprietor of Innovar Apothecary in the village of Hearthdell in the Demithore Valley of Issylra. As an NPC, Proleff is played by Matthew Mercer.
Description
When Team Issylra of Bells Hells encountered him, Proleff was in his late 50s. He had extremely thick hair that he attempted to pull back into a bun or ponytail, creating a dense pouf around and at the back of his head. His skin was weathered and tanned, with large crow's nests around his eyes. He had a wide smile and wore a leather apron and a satchel.[5]
History
Well before 843 PD, Proleff's children had left Hearthdell.[6]
He seemed relatively friendly and welcoming to the party, sharing an account of the 11 people who vanished from the village during the height of the Apogee Solstice (showing relief when he realized they had been teleported away, since he had assumed they had just died), telling them of the nature-based religion of the local people and their tension with the more recently arrived traditional religious missionaries from Vasselheim, and urging them to meet with Joan Abaddina, the elder of their religious sect.[7]
When Bor'Dor Dog'Son purchased a large laxative but didn't have the six gold it cost, he offered to trade for a basket of beef jerky. Instead, Proleff gave him the laxative in return for an owed favor, and noted down his name.[8]
That night, after Bells Hells and some of the villagers managed to defeat the followers of Pelor and destroy the Sunrise Sanctuary with the help of the Demithore Eidolons, Proleff told Bor'Dor that his debt had been paid since the half-elf had helped in the battle.[9] Proleff was given the money collected by the temple, so that he could distribute it among the townsfolk as he deemed appropriate.[10]
