Opash was a sanctioned necromancer who lived in Marquet during the Age of Arcanum.

Biography

Background

Opash was so fascinated by the craft of necromancy that he defied the laws in place and practiced the extremes of necromancy, focusing on phylactery experiments and extensions of life.[3] Consequently, he is an ideological enemy of the Raven Queen.

Opash broke the laws of necromancy at the time and was slated for death, but through clever diplomacy and many owed favors he managed to just be exiled out to the Lucidian Ocean, where he took refuge on the island of Viscan.[4] Even though he couldn't get away due to the nature of the magic of the island, Opash wasn't interested in leaving. Part of the way the necromancer was able to maintain his powers is that he lured closer to the sanctum the wayward mages and sorcerers who ventured onto the island and either robbed them, sacrificed them, or raised them as undead.[5]

Centuries before 795 PD,[6][7][8] Opash captured a wounded Thordak who found refuge on the island of Viscan after his failed attack on Ank'Harel.[9] Opash then experimented on the red dragon, making him more powerful and Thordak eventually destroyed the necromancer.[10]
